Jennifer joins NACHC after 18 years of experience working in a variety of healthcare roles, starting as a bilingual receptionist at a free catholic medical clinic. Goal setting and professional growth have been driving factors in her educational pursuits and career path. As such, she graduated from East Carolina University as a non-traditional, online student in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in communication. With a life-long passion for diversity and inclusion, Jennifer recognized that she wanted her career to center on these important principles, pursuing as many opportunities as possible to be involved both personally and professionally in committees and volunteer work in order to learn and gain experience. Along the way, the cause of health equity began to take center stage. In January 2020, not knowing a global pandemic was brewing, Jennifer began pursuing her master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, graduating in May 2021. Combining a love for people, communication, community resiliency, and health equity, Jennifer’s role at NACHC is to collect, create and distribute information and calls to action for healthcare advocates, through creative infographics, blogs, social media posts, newsletters, and email campaigns in order to equip, encourage and mobilize.
When not working, Jennifer loves spending time with her elementary-aged twins, spoiling her pets, traveling, and volunteering in community Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives and committees. Jennifer’s life motto in all matters, but especially EDI and advocacy is, “Student first, practitioner second.”
